Here’s a photo I took at the crack of dawn….note the steam coming from the caldera! The summit has been off limits to climbers for two years now, due to the increased volcanic activity.
It’s a very sexy mountain!
Yep, that handsome dude on the right is me. Check out my sheep skin chaps! The other fellow is Alejandro Perez, part owner of the Hacienda El Porvenir, who showed me much of his 1,200 ha ranch via horseback.
Dee hiking through an endangered Polylepis forest as we approached 4,000m. These are the same trees the Hacienda El Porvenir has been replanting as a conservation effort, to the tune of some 1 million trees and counting!
